MAP of behaviour change to support staff wellbeing
The National Wellbeing Hub supports health and wellbeing for health and social care staff.
The NES Psychology Health Improvement Team, with the National Wellbeing Hub, have developed the MAP for Wellbeing Resource, launched in May 2023, one of the resources from the NES MAP of Health Behaviour Change Learning Programme.
This resource supports colleagues working in the NHS and social care to make meaningful changes for their health and wellbeing.
Many of us have things we would like to do differently to support our wellbeing, whether that is eating better, being more active or having improved sleep.
Making those changes can be easier said than done, however, research shows that making a detailed plan can increase the likelihood that we put those change ideas into action and stick to them.
MAP stands for Motivation, Action and Prompts – three elements necessary for successful behaviour change. Bringing together key elements from Health Psychology theory and behavioural science, the MAP for Wellbeing Resource includes the practical planning tool, videos describing how we can make changes for ourselves, how we can support others to make changes and some top tips to consider when wanting to prioritise self-care.
