A skilled and sustainable workforce for a healthier Scotland
The Operating Department Practice (ODP) diploma level programme launched in Scotland in autumn 2019.
The programme is designed to meet the gaps and needs in the OPD workforce, both currently, and to enable future workforce models and plans to deliver enhanced elective care activity.
The programme commissioning was led by NES on behalf of territorial health boards. The management of the service led approach is undertaken by regional leads (west, south east and north) appointed by health boards.
