Statement on the Transgender Care Knowledge and Skills Framework

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) statement:

"We can confirm that the NES Transgender Care Knowledge & Skills Framework makes no changes to guidance regarding the prescribing of hormone treatment. We would not consider it accurate to suggest that the Framework instructs GPs to prescribe cross sex hormones on the basis of self report.  Self report as part of wider assessment is mentioned only in the "enhanced" level which the framework makes clear applies to staff working in or attached to specialist gender identity services."
