New water animation launched from NES and NHS Scotland Assure

NES and NHS Scotland Assure have announced the launch of their new animation (which is the second animation in a suite of resources) titled ‘Infection prevention and control design considerations of healthcare domestic water and above ground drainage systems’.

The animation was developed to support a target audience of:

• construction teams
• health board construction project teams
• health board estates teams
• health care water system designers
• infection prevention and control teams (infection control nurses, doctors, and directors)
• plumbers/installers
• water engineers

The animation aims to:

• improve knowledge of the design of healthcare domestic water and above ground drainage systems
• recognise the IPC risks associated with a healthcare water and drainage system and why these IPC risks commence during the design phase
• understand how these risks can be mitigated
• understand the health impact of the design risks on patients, visitors, staff and the wider community
• note specific guidance in relation to design of healthcare water systems and signpost to this guidance

It will be hosted on the NES Healthcare Built Environment TURAS Learn zone
