NES Annual Review 2024-2025 and our transformation journey
The 2025 NES Annual Review, held at Westport on Thursday 13 November, focused on achievements across NES, not just from this year but over many years.
NES Chair David Garbutt and CEO Karen Reid – supported by the NES Executive Team – presented to the Scottish Government team. This was led by Caroline Lamb, Chief Executive of NHS Scotland and Director-General Health and Social Care.
David Garbutt, NES Chair said:
"Annual Reviews are a chance to reflect on, and celebrate, our collective successes and the difference our work has made for the health and social care workforce and, ultimately, the people of Scotland"
This year of course, it's our final Annual Review in our current form. So it’s an important organisational milestone, as we reflect on the last five years and look ahead."This was an excellent discussion with our SG colleagues, who commented on the progress we have made and the opportunities that beckon in the future."
Chief Executive Karen Reid said:
"In the last five years, we have had a massive positive impact on the health and social care workforce, and the communities we all serve. It's very much the work of everyone - our colleagues across the entire organisation."
People tell me they are proud to be in this team – that’s testimony to the teamwork and professionalism that I'm lucky enough to witness every day. I want to say 'thank you' to everyone over the last five years, who have made all this possible."
In the next year, together with new colleagues from NSS, we will build a new organisation, which is a tremendous opportunity. Our commitment to being adaptable and creative remains unchanged, using technology and innovation to advance health and social care for learners, educators, partners, and stakeholders."
We want to use the future to see what more we can do – to build new relationships and partnerships, to make even more of a difference for the people of Scotland."
Caroline Lamb, Chief Executive of NHS Scotland and Director-General Health and Social Care, Scottish Government said:
"I am always impressed by the breadth and depth of the work that NES do, and it has been great to hear about the impact that you are making. I am also confident that you will take the strength of your approaches to culture, performance, risk management, innovation and collaboration into the new organisation of NHS Delivery."
