November is Getting Published Month, following great feedback and attendance at last year’s event, Knowledge Services have arranged a new set of sessions for 2024!
Registration is open to all staff in NHS Scotland Health and Social Care. There is something for everyone and you can register for as many events as you wish.

Research Masterclass: Becoming the editors pick, key strategies for drafting manuscripts for publication
Monday 11 November from 2:0pm to 3:30pm
Identify the key elements Editors look for in a manuscript, and how to effectively draft an original research article to increase its chances of getting published.
Publication Research and Ethics
Tuesday 12 November from 10:00am to 10:45am
Learn some of the key elements to consider when planning your research and how reproducibility and Open Science practices can increase the visibility of your research.
Getting Published: An overview
Tuesday 12 November from 1:30pm to 2:15pm
This session will seek to demystify the publication journey and in doing so offer tips and tactics on getting published.
Submitting a case report to BMJ
Wednesday 13 November from 10:00am to 11:00am
An overview of the types of articles BMJ Case Reports seeks to publish. Covering what to write, how to write and how to present images, diagrams and tables essential to learning and successful publication.
Introduction to RefWorks
Thursday 14 November from 1:00pm to 1:45pm
Learn how RefWorks can help you throughout your research workflow. Finding, saving, and organizing references is easy and efficient.
RefWorks citation manager (RCM)
Thursday 14 November from 2:00pm to 2:30pm
This RefWorks session will cover features of RCM: how it works with your RefWorks references and how it helps when writing a research paper.
