International Recruitment masterclasses and community of practice forums
The Centre for Workforce Supply (CWS) Social Care in NHS Education for Scotland (NES) supports the recruitment of adult social care workers ethically and sustainably from overseas.
As part of this work the CWSS team hosts a monthly webinar series on International Recruitment into Adult Social Care. They include Lunch and Learn Masterclasses as well as Community of Practice forums.
There are two events coming up in November:
Lunch & Learn Masterclass: ‘The UK’s Points-based Immigration System’
This is the second in our series of masterclasses and will take place on Thursday 7 November at 12pm.
The event will look in detail at the ‘UK’s Points-based Immigration System’ and applying for a sponsor license.

Community of Practice Forum: ‘Human Trafficking’
The second of our lunchtime forums will take place on Tuesday 19 November at 12pm.
The event will focus on the issue of human trafficking with particular regard to the Scottish social care sector.
Join guest speakers from key stakeholders, including Mathew John (Policy Manager Human Trafficking Team at the Scottish Government) and Detective Superintendent Steven Bertam (Police Scotland Human Trafficking Unit).

Lunch & Learn Masterclass: ‘An Introduction to International Recruitment’
Our first masterclass webinar on Tuesday 8 October.
Alan Povey (Senior Specialist Lead – International Recruitment) conducted the session which gave an overview of the key steps and considerations around international recruitment.
Community of Practice Forum: ‘Introducing CWSS and International Recruitment’
Our first monthly forum on 16 October.
Guest speakers Ian Turner, Deputy Director of Adult Social Care Workforce and Fair Work Division, Scottish Government, and Caroline Deane, Workforce Policy & Practice Lead, Scottish Care discussed policies and thoughts around the future of international recruitment as a viable mitigation to the workforce challenges facing the social care sector in Scotland.
