Innovation collaborative nominated for digital health and social care award
The Accelerated National Innovation Adoption (ANIA) collaborative has been shortlisted for the ‘Digital Health and Care Team Award’ at tonight’s Holyrood Connect Digital Health and Care Awards.
The multidisciplinary team have been shortlisted for the collaborative work behind the new national Digital Dermatology pathway, which helps reduce waiting times and enables faster diagnosis and assessment of skin conditions using a secure mobile app.
Images are stored on the National Digital Platform for Health and Social Care and attached to GP referrals via SCI Gateway, with no data saved on the device. Dermatologists can then triage remotely, minimising in-person visits.
The national digital dermatology pathway is backed by £1.8 million of funding from the Scottish Government and, supported by the Chief Scientist Office. It is one of the first innovations approved for national implementation under the ANIA pathway – a collaborative venture that is coordinated by the national Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD) at NHS Golden Jubilee and involves NHS National Services Scotland, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Public Health Scotland, Digital Health & Care Directorate and NHS Education for Scotland. Following initial roll out in the launch Boards, the aim is for the technology to be deployed nationally by Spring 2025.
