The Scottish Improvement Leader programme Turns 10

The Scottish Improvement Leader (ScIL) programme turned 10 this year. To mark this milestone an event took place November, providing an opportunity for ScIL graduates and current ScILs, stakeholders and sponsors to come together and recognise the impact and journey of ScIL since 2014.

The event was opened by Karen Reid, Chief Executive of NES. This was   followed by  impact stories from ScIL graduates and delivery partners in Wales and Northern Ireland. David Garbutt, Board Chair of NES closed the event.

Since 2014 ScIL has been supporting the development of improvement leaders across health and social care, education and early years, social services and the wider public services in Scotland. Cohort 1 commenced in 2014, and 2024 sees the 50th cohort commencing in Scotland.

The programme is also being delivered in Northern Ireland and Wales, with longstanding relationships with faculty and ScIL alumni from these two countries. There is now a network of over 1,200 ScIL alumni across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and beyond with participants from England and Canada as well.
