First Support Around Death Bereavement webinar of 2023 announced
NES Support Around Death workstream provides educational support for health and social care staff who are working with patients, carers and families before, at, and after death. It provides key information on the clinical, legislative, and practical issues involved.
The first of its ongoing bereavement series in 2023 will be Gender Based Violence and Bereavement on Wednesday 25 January 2023, 12.30 to 1.30pm. The speaker will be Leanne Patrick, Gender Based Violence Nurse Specialist, Health Development Team Lead, NHS Fife.
The session will cover:
- brief overview of Gender Based Violence (GBV), types of death where GBV is either a cause or a factor and the impact upon family and friends
- how to communicate with and support family and friends who may be experiencing trauma, guilt and other complex emotions
- understanding the support routes available for family, friends and healthcare staff
