Falls, frailty and bone health

A third of people over 65 and half of people over 80, will fall at least once a year (UK Research and Innovation 2024). We have launched a new elearning module which focuses on the prevention and management of falls, frailty, and bone health.

Recognising the risk factors and knowing how to minimise them is crucial to preventing falls, frailty and fractures. Our new 45-minute Informed level module provides essential knowledge and skills for all health and social care staff seeking to improve their awareness of and play a frontline role in reducing the number and severity of falls.

Key staff groups include:

  • ambulance service personnel;
  • clinical healthcare support workers;
  • community and social care staff; and
  • nursing, midwifery and allied health professions.

A specialist team co-authored the module which was informed through consultation with a wider user forum. More than 500 users have completed Falls, frailty, and bone health: prevention and management since its launch in September 2024.
