COVID-19 Vaccination Programme
Working in partnership with Public Health Scotland we have developed a range of educational resources and information to support vaccinators at all levels of experience and those involved in supporting the vaccination programme. The resources can all be found on the TURAS Learn Immunisation COVID-19 site.
They aim to help provide health and social care staff with the knowledge and skills needed to undertake safe and effective vaccination practice and to promote high uptake of the vaccine.
The resources consist of core COVID-19 vaccination programme learning resources which provide generic knowledge about the COVID-19 national vaccination programme, including vaccine eligibility and legal aspects.
There are also vaccine specific materials about the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. These resources cover key information including how the vaccine works, how it should be stored, prepared and administered and any contraindications, precautions and potential vaccine reactions.
NHS Education for Scotland and Public Health Scotland recently hosted webinars on the COVID-19 vaccination programme and the use of this vaccine. More than 4000 practitioners joined over the 3 events.
The webinar, recorded on Monday 7 December plus slides for vaccinators with notes, information and proficiency documents for the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine can be accessed through TURAS Learn Immunisation COVID-19 site.
These educational resources continue to be updated as required to support this programme but do not replace the clinical judgment of practitioners.
