A Once for Scotland approach to equality and diversity learning
Our equality, diversity and human rights team are working on two new learning resources. Both learning resources will be available on Turas for health and social care staff by the end of 2023.
New essential learning module
This introductory module on equality, diversity, and human rights will equip learners with core knowledge and awareness of key topics and issues. It provides organisations with be reassurance that their staff have completed a foundation level learning resource on equality and diversity.
We are collaborating with representatives from NHS boards and health and social care partnerships on the develop and design stage. A wider group of stakeholders will assist with testing and reviewing the module, they include:
- local authorities
- social care organisations
- professional groups
To engage learners the resource will include more stories and lived experiences using audio and video. It will allow them the opportunity to reflect on their own practice, role or working environment.

New Cultural Humility learning resource
We are collaborating with the NHS Scotland Academy and a range of stakeholders to develop a ‘Once for Scotland’ Cultural Humility online learning resource.
This resource will supplement the new equality, diversity, and human rights module by focusing on the values and behaviours that support an inclusive workplace culture.
It will provide a starting point for reflection by sharing lived experiences and stories to demonstrate what practicing cultural humility looks like in health and social care.
