Since graduating with a degree in Medical and Molecular Cytology, Matthew has over 15 years experience researching genetic technologies including positions in industry (Randox Laboratories) and in academia (Institute of Cancer Research/Royal Marsden).

After moving to Dundee in 2021, Matthew was the technical lead for the NHS Tayside Genotyping Lab (East of Scotland Regional Genetics) for three years, during which time he helped introduce CYP2C19 and TPMT pharmacogenomic testing into clinical service, as well as new protocols for ADRB2 and DPYD testing.

Matthew started his NHS Tayside Genetics trainee clinical scientist role in September 2024.
