NHS Education for Scotland (NES) has been liaising with the building owners for the properties that we currently occupy, or have access to. We are determining if reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) is present in any of them, and if so, what contingency plans may have to be put in place.
Most of our buildings are used for education and training, and not for direct healthcare provision to the public. However, we do provide some direct care in our Dental Education Centres.
We occupy some of our buildings jointly with other tenants. In some cases they will be other NHS Boards, and the assessment of the presence of RAAC will be made as part of the survey of the wider site.
NSS Assure will be providing weekly updates to all NHS Scotland Boards on progress in working through survey schedules for all NHS Scotland premises. We will keep the following list below updated on a regular basis as properties we occupy are assessed. Once those surveys are undertaken, there may be additional actions we need to take if RAAC identified as an issue, not least mitigations and any service contingencies required.
