Leadership changes at NES

Changes are taking place within the senior leadership team at NHS Education for Scotland.


Caroline Lamb, Chief Executive will be taking up a secondment to the Scottish Government as Director of Digital Reform and Service Engagement. As a result of this change, we are putting in place the following interim arrangements, which will be fully effective from 1 December 2019:

  • Professor Stewart Irvine, Medical Director and Deputy Chief Executive will assume the role of Acting Chief Executive and Accountable Officer for NES during the period of Caroline’s secondment. He can be contacted at
  • Professor Rowan Parks, Deputy Medical Director, will assume the role of Acting Medical Director.
  • Audrey McColl, Director of Finance, will assume the additional responsibility of Acting Deputy Chief Executive.

NES Chair, David Garbutt said:
