New resource for community pharmacy teams

NES Pharmacy team has developed the `Common Clinical Conditions and Minor Ailments` resource to support the Out-of-Hours service in NHSScotland.

The resource will keep community pharmacists and their teams up-to-date, and help them to respond effectively to patients who present out-of-hours or during normal working hours. It includes an overview of the most common clinical conditions (including signs, symptoms and alarm symptoms) and guidance on how to respond to these conditions, through provision of information or medication, or via referral to another profession/ service.

Supporting community pharmacists to deal with common clinical conditions and minor ailments, may help reduce some of the burden on GPs and out-of-hours services. All community pharmacies will receive a copy of the resource during February and an electronic version is available via the NES website.
