All smiles as oral health poster scoops top award

Helping NHS staff excel at their jobs was the theme of this year's NES stand at the recent NHSScotland conference.

We were delighted that our new oral health qualification for nursery practitioners was recognised with the "People's Choice" award at the conference.

Prioritising good oral health habits in the early years can really help bridge the gap in health inequalities. Our poster highlighted the work done to establish partnerships with NHS Boards, FE Colleges, Nurseries and SQA to develop a qualification for early years workers. The SCQF Level 6 qualification in Supervised Toothbrushing has been successfully offered to 340 nurseries in Lanarkshire and delivery is planned across the rest of Scotland over the next year.

Trish Gray, accepting the award, said:

"We're delighted to get the wider spotlight on this educational resource which really shows what we can achieve with effective collaborative working."

Over a busy two days, we also showcased a range of other resources to help healthcare staff excel at their jobs. These included workshops on the new Turas Appraisal system, which replaces eKSF, new Clinical Supervision modules, Quality Improvement, Lead Employer arrangements, Duty of Candour resources, how to digitally-enable the workforce and much more.

Thanks to everyone who came to the stand - we hope you found the sessions as productive as we did. If you couldn't make the stand, please get in touch and we'd love to discuss these with you.
