Pharmacy Technicians working in General Practice

Pharmacy technicians working in General Practice

NES Pharmacy has developed a learning pathway for pharmacy technicians employed in General Practice across Scotland.

The pathway consists of 3 elements:

  • A 13 module e-learning package ‘Fundamentals of GP practice’. This is open to any pharmacy technician working in a general practice setting. These modules are available on TURAS Learn by clicking here. Details of module content together with a guide for suggested module completion for pharmacy technicians with experience of working in other sectors, can be accessed here.
  • A series of 3 national bespoke training events over an 18-month period where pharmacy technicians from across Scotland learn together. These events are multi-professional in delivery and the content is based on a training needs analysis for each cohort of pharmacy technicians attending.
  • Completion of a Foundation Competency & Capability Framework for pharmacy technicians (currently under development and available Summer 2017).

Pharmacy technicians are entered onto the learning pathway by local Health Boards Leads working in collaboration with NES.
