New Resource: Stroke

This resource was developed by NES Pharmacy, with support from specialist pharmacists, to support pharmacists in delivering effective pharmaceutical care for patients with stroke - the third most common cause of death in Scotland after coronary heart disease and cancer.

On completion of this course you should be able to define and describe the different types of stroke, as well as recognise the signs and symptoms of stroke and the importance of quick and appropriate action.  You should also be able to understand the risk factors for the different types of stroke and how to prioritise patients for primary prevention to minimise these risks, describe the pharmaceutical care in acute stroke and outline the basis of secondary prevention of stroke, describe the range of problems that stroke survivors may face and how to address them, and apply this knowledge in your area of practice to improve patient care.
