National Event held 21 February 2019

A national "Shaping the Scottish Future Nurse and Midwife" event was held on 21 February 2019.

The NMAHP Practice Education team at NES hosted a national event for 200 practitioners from across Scotland. 

The aims of the event were to provide delegates with the opportunity to join the discussion, have opinions heard and influence the shaping of the Future of Nursing and Midwifery pre-registraion education in Scotland and the implementation of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards for Education.

By participating in the event delegates:

  • Learned about the Once for Scotland Approach underlying the implementation of the NMC Standards for Education 
  • Were provided with an update in relation to the progress of the six areas within the Scottish Future Nurse and Midwife Programme Board work plan
  • Participated in facilitated discussions around the Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (pre and post-registration)
  • Given the opportunity to review and comment on the first draft of the Scottish Practice Assessment document for future nurse pre-registration students
  • Joined a facilitated discussion to share good practice and horizon scan Future Nurse and Midwife practice learning experiences of the future
  • Networked with colleagues from across Scotland.
