Examples of work

  • Support practitioners to access and use the wide range of NES learning resources to contribute to their ongoing continuing professional development
  • Work in partnership with NHS Lothian Clinical Education team to integrate NES resources into education and training, strategically and in practice.  This includes but not exclusively, public health, antimicrobial resistance and hospital acquired infrection resources, confirmation of death and clinical supervision resources
  • Support NHS Lothian to maintain midwifery clinical supervision provision through the facilitation of clinical supervision preparation.  Collaborate with NHS Lothian clinical education team to integrate the NES clinical supervision learning resources into their prepration of clinical supervisors.  In addition, supporting the educators to prepare for the upcoming Excellence in Care clinical supervision measures.
  • Deliver a learning programme based on the NES "Train the Trainers" Toolkit - helpng others to facilitate learning in the workplace.  A Practical Guide to NMAHP groups.  Bespoke sessions for small groups with specific learning needs have been successfully facilitated also using this toolkit.  Transfer of learning into practice has been demonstrated with participants reporting using their learning to improve their own teaching and learning practice.  Most commonly using learning in relation to constructive alignment to strengthen their programmes of learning and incorporating more robust evaluation to further support quality assurance
  • Contribute to the "Transforming nursing roles" agenda in the community, promoting educational resources and supporting local project initatives
  • Raise awareness and support nurses and midwives to use the TURAS Nursing and Midwifery Professional Portfolio to gather and store information about their continuing professional development which can be used towards their appraisal or NMC revalidation
