As the Practice Educator within NHS Borders I work in partnership with the wider Practice Education team locally to support Nurses and Midwives professional development through:

  • Promoting and demonstrating TURAS Professional Portfolio making connections with TURAS Learn and Appraisal to facilitate nurses and midwives to use these applications to their full potential. Organising and hosting events as well as "on-demand" local sessions.
  • Supporting engagement and completion of NHS Flying Start programme, hosting events and establishing communication networks for Newly Qualified Practitioners, their facilitators and Senior Charge Nurses. Taking an NMAHP approach with this work and collaborating with AHP Practice Education Lead.
  •  Working in partnership with NHS Borders Education and Clinical teams towards national strategies for Clinical Supervision and Transforming Roles.
  •  Supporting role development of the Healthcare Support Worker and Young Workforce via Prince's Trust Get Into Healthcare programme and Hospital to Home programme.
  • Delivering Facilitating Learning in Practice programme for nurses, midwives and AHPs taking in two cohorts each year.
  •  Supporting NHS Borders CAMHS Team with their competency programme and preceptorship.
