Changing to meet the future
In December, the Scottish Government set out its plans on how health and social care needs to adapt to meet the demands of the future, working more collaboratively, efficiently and effectively. At NES, we’re already working with our partners on how we can rise to the challenges set by the Plan.
There's a clear directive for the NHS, including the eight national Boards like NES, to work together better than we have in the past, on national and regional planning and delivery. The national Boards have also been asked to collaborate and to share services to save £15 million.
Making this happen is a priority for NES and our partners: the ‘Once for Scotland’ approach is going to be central to how we deliver our support functions to the rest of the NHS. From a NES perspective, we are looking at how best we can contribute our expertise in education and training, workforce planning and insight, digital systems and data handling, employee engagement and support for the benefit of the whole of the health and social care sector.
The government has rightly tasked all of us to deliver transformational change as soon as possible: as we develop our proposals, we will keep you informed.
