4th National NHSScotland Healthcare Support Workers Annual Event

14-February-2018

‘Inspirational’, 'Best day of the year', 'Important...' These are just a few of the comments from delegates who attended our 4th National NHSScotland Healthcare Support Workers Annual Event on Wednesday 7th February 2018. The theme of the event was ‘Learning to Do Things Differently’. Our Educational Development team, whose work has a focus on the 70,000 support staff working across the NHS in Scotland, led the event.

Over 200 Healthcare Support Workers were welcomed to Edinburgh on the day.

Shirley Rogers, Director of Health Workforce & Strategic Change, Scottish Government and Fiona McQueen, Chief Nursing Officer, Scottish Government both attended the event and emphasised their appreciation for the work of the support staff who 'keep the hospital doors open'.

The Educational Development team is planning two further events in the near future - a partnership working event for NHS Boards and Scottish colleges and a 'Young People Matter' event where best practice in youth employment will be shared.
