Learning space on Autism Spectrum Disorders

NHS Education Scotland has a range of resources that help support the Scottish Strategy for Autism (2011).

These include resources to help identify training needs for staff working in both generic and specialist roles (NHS Education for Scotland Autism Training Framework: Optimising Outcomes and The NES Autism Training Plan). The Learning Resource on Autism Spectrum Disorders for GPs and Primary Care Practitioners was updated in 2014 and is supported by an e-learning module with practical examples for primary care staff. In the drive to facilitate access to all health and social care services NES developed Promoting Positive Practice, a practical resource that covers 9 key considerations to make services more accessible to autistic individuals, their families and carers. Further resources are being developed to support those involved in assessment and diagnosis with a range of conference videos already available in relation to complexity in assessment and diagnosis.
