Psychological Therapies

NES is involved in several related strands of work to support NHS Boards improve the psychological care they offer to the Scottish population.

In collaboration with the Mental Health Division and other key stakeholders, NES has set standards for training in psychological interventions, and has produced guidance for Boards on the delivery of safe, effective and efficient care - The Matrix - A Guide to Delivering Evidence-Based Psychological Therapies in Scotland. An updated version of The Matrix is about to be launched.

NES is also involved in the commissioning and delivery of training in specific psychological therapies and interventions as recommended by the Matrix: (e.g. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Parenting Interventions, Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing).   In the last twelve months, 660 multi-professional staff have received training in psychological care/therapies/interventions.

We also provide NHS Boards with resources to gather local information about training needs, to support the delivery of local training and to develop appropriate  supervision networks.
