QI Workforce Development Tool/ Scottish Improvement Skills Launch & Information Day Held at Murrayfield

Abstract: We are delighted to announce that the QI Workforce Development Tool and the new suite SIS materials are now available online.

Last Thursday NES hosted an event at BT Murrayfield Stadium to mark the official launch of the National Quality Improvement Workforce Development Tool and a brand new suite of training products designed to support Scottish Improvement Skills (SIS).

Over 80 delegates attended to hear presentations covering the two subjects, take part in discussions in how best to utilise the new resources and, to try out the Workforce Development Tool for themselves at a demo station set up in for the event.

The morning session was led by Elaine Pacitti, (NES) and focussed on the QI Development Tool. Shona Cowan (QuEST) provided the audience with an insight into how the tool was developed. Leslie Simpson (Forth Valley) then described how his, and several other boards, had assisted in shaping the suite of support materials created for the tool. The final speaker for the morning was June Wylie who led the discussion session where the audience were encouraged to discuss what the next steps for rolling the tool out would be.

In the afternoon, focus shifted to the SIS support products with Emma Levy (NES) taking the audience through how they had been developed and Jenny Ingram (NHS Grampian) describing how her board had assisted the development in this process.

The day ended with a keynote address from Professor Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director of the Health Quality and Strategy Directorate for the Scottish Government.

Professor Rowan Parks, Deputy Medical Director at NES was in attendance at the event and had this to say, “It was fantastic to see such a large audience be so energised by this vital set of resources.“

The new SIS materials are available for download here and you can try out the National Quality Improvement Workforce Development Tool here.
